Perspective. Connection. Performance.

Perspective. Connection. Performance. Perspective. Connection. Performance. Perspective. Connection. Performance.

Welcome to Vantage

Vantage begins with understanding the human behind performance. Through deeper understanding and intentional skill development, performance becomes an opportunity to respond effectively to challenge while staying connected to what matters.

Vantage is thoughtfully preparing to welcome performance clients beginning in December 2026. More to come as we build toward what’s next.

Get in Touch

Perspective

Performance does not occur in isolation. It develops within relational, cultural, and environmental contexts. Perspective involves awareness of the thoughts, emotions, beliefs, identities, relationships, and environmental factors that influence responses to performance demands. Understanding internal and external influences creates greater opportunity for intentional responses to pressure.

Connection

Connection reflects alignment with values and identity, while recognizing the influence of relationships, expectations, performance environments, and broader systems. This creates a foundation for meaningful engagement with both internal experience and external demands.

Performance

Performance is where these processes come together in action. The goal is not simply to eliminate discomfort or achieve a particular outcome, but to develop the awareness, skills, and flexibility to engage effectively with performance demands. From this foundation, performance can become an expression of agency, connection, and self.

What is Vantage Psychology?

Vantage represents gaining perspective and understanding of the internal, relational, and contextual factors that shape performance, creating greater capacity to respond intentionally and effectively.

This philosophy places the individual within the broader context of performance. Grounded in Self-Determination Theory, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), self-concordance, person-centered approaches, and identity-informed sport psychology, Vantage considers how performance connects to identity, values, and a broader sense of self. Advocacy and social justice perspectives further recognize that both identity and performance are shaped within relational, cultural, and systemic contexts.

The approach is pragmatic, recognizing there is no single way to approach performance. Mental performance skills such as attention, confidence, emotional regulation, self-talk, and responding under pressure are developed and applied in ways that fit the individual, their goals, and the demands of the performance environment. Rather than treating these skills as isolated techniques or prescribing how performance should look or feel, the focus is on understanding what works, why it works, and how it fits within the broader experience of the human behind performance.

From this foundation, performers can respond more intentionally and effectively, moving beyond performance simply as an outcome to achieve, and toward performance as an expression of agency, connection, and self.

My Story

Dr. Brown, PsyD, grew up in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where athletics were part of her life from an early age. She was a multi-sport athlete throughout high school, but horses were always where she found her greatest passion. A lifelong equestrian and three-day eventer, she came to understand performance as more than competition or outcomes. Performance environments offered a consistent space for meaningful relationships, challenge, growth, and a sense of belonging that shaped both her development and how she came to understand herself.

These experiences ultimately shaped the work she does today. Dr. Brown’s path into psychology grew from a curiosity about the human behind performance: how people respond to pressure, how relationships and lived experiences influence the way we show up, and how performance can offer a space to navigate the existential realities of being human while creating opportunities for healing, growth, and deeper self-understanding.

Dr. Brown pursued this curiosity through an M.A. in Sport and Performance Psychology and a PsyD in Clinical Psychology at the University of Denver, followed by a postdoctoral residency with the University of Virginia Athletics Department. Across her training, she worked with performers at the intersection of high-level performance and the broader human experience, including questions of identity and meaning, relationships, transition, anxiety, injury, grief, and pressure. She was recently approved to sit for the Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) certification exam and is completing the final steps toward earning the credential.

Today, Dr. Brown’s work is grounded in the understanding that the person and performer are inseparable. Her approach considers the whole person, including their identity, values, lived experiences, environment, and the ways they respond to challenge and pressure. Rather than prescribing a particular way to perform, she helps performers develop greater awareness of themselves and their experiences so they can respond with intention, flexibility, and agency. From this perspective, performance becomes more than an outcome to achieve; it becomes an opportunity for connection, growth, and the fullest expression of who we are.

When she is not working, Dr. Brown can usually be found with her Irish Sport Horse, River, navigating the challenges and inevitable humility of three-day eventing. Outside of the barn, she enjoys reading, staying active while avoiding cardio whenever possible, drinking truly unreasonable amounts of coffee, and spending time with her husband and their beloved fur family.
